This Intellectual Property & Citation Policy (the "Policy") sets out the ownership of content published by WBO, the permitted ways to cite and use such content, the basic requirements for quotation and republishing, and the boundaries governing the use of WBO names, identifiers, and public representations. WBO encourages responsible sharing and citation that respects rights and preserves accuracy.
1. Ownership
Unless expressly stated otherwise, the intellectual property and related rights in all text, graphics, images, layout, visual design, identifiers, files, database structures, standards-framework expressions, assessment-principle descriptions, rule texts, and other materials displayed on the WBO Website (collectively, the "Content") are owned by WBO or its rights holders and are protected by applicable law.
Where the Website includes content owned by third parties, WBO uses such content under license or other lawful basis. The rights in that content remain with the original rights holders.
2. Permitted Citation
You may cite WBO public content for non-commercial purposes within reasonable limits — including research, education, journalism, academic writing, and public discussion — provided that the citation does not compromise the integrity or accuracy of the Content. When citing, you shall:
· Attribute the source — clearly identify "World Brain Organization (WBO)" or "WBO Website," and retain the original title;
· Preserve accuracy — not take content out of context, alter its meaning, or present it in a misleading manner;
· Maintain traceability — where possible, provide the relevant page or document reference, such as a URL, document title, version number, or date;
· Keep citation proportionate — not use citation as a substitute for republishing the full work.
3. Reposting, Republishing, and Translation
Unless WBO expressly permits otherwise, the following activities typically require prior written permission from WBO:
· reposting or republishing a complete article, report, rule text, standards document, or substantial portion of Content;
· using WBO Content for commercial purposes, including but not limited to course sales, training promotion, paid communities, advertising, or commercial website content;
· translating WBO Content and publishing the translation, particularly where the content relates to standards, rules, level and competency structures, or policy texts;
· rewriting, repackaging, or adapting WBO frameworks, diagrams, tables, scoring logic, or assessment definitions for public distribution.
Where permission is granted, the scope, attribution requirements, whether modifications are allowed, and version-citation rules shall be governed by the written authorization.
4. Name, Identifiers, and Brand Use
"World Brain Organization," "WBO," and related identifiers, logos, badges, signature visual elements, certification and competition names, certificate formats, and verification displays are WBO brand assets or protected identifiers. Without express written permission, you shall not:
· use the WBO name or identifiers for commercial promotion, or in a manner that implies endorsement, partnership, or authorization by WBO;
· embed, imitate, or closely resemble WBO identifiers or signature elements in an organization name, product name, certificate name, or competition name;
· place WBO identifiers on courses, training programs, products, events, or media pages in a way that leads others to believe you have been authorized, appointed, or officially recognized by WBO;
· reproduce, modify, or create look-alike logos, certificate formats, or verification-page materials for external use.
If you need to use the WBO name or identifiers — for example, in partnership displays, media citation, or partner-page listings — you should obtain permission in advance or follow any brand-use guidance published by WBO.
5. Citation of Credentials and Records
WBO certifications, certificates, competition results, appointments, and related records operate under defined versioning and verification mechanisms. When citing such credentials or records externally, you shall:
· use accurate and valid information; fabrication, alteration, and exaggeration are prohibited;
· where possible, include the certificate identifier, version information, or a reference to the official verification entry;
· not present verification results selectively or use them for misleading marketing;
· not claim "official WBO certification" or "official WBO appointment" beyond the scope established by the certificate or record itself.
Where a credential or portfolio record contains personal information, citation and display shall comply with the Privacy & Data Policy and require appropriate authorization.
6. Prohibited Uses
You shall not:
· infringe the intellectual property or related rights of WBO or any third party;
· use WBO Content in misleading promotions, false endorsements, or improper public statements;
· publish modified, abridged, or mixed-version materials under the guise of an "official" WBO version;
· scrape or collect Website Content at scale for republishing, or strip traceability and version information from Content.
7. Notice and Takedown
If you believe content on the Website infringes your lawful rights, or if you discover unauthorized use of WBO Content, names, or identifiers, you may submit a notice through the channels officially published on the Website. To facilitate handling, a notice should include:
· the identity and contact details of the rights holder;
· the specific location of the allegedly infringing content (URL, screenshot, or description);
· supporting evidence of rights (such as copyright registration, trademark documentation, or authorization records).
WBO will review and handle notices within a reasonable scope, including removing content or taking other reasonable measures where warranted.
8. Updates
WBO may update this Policy from time to time. The version number and effective date shown on this page shall apply. When citing standards, rules, or policy texts, we recommend referencing the most current version and retaining version information for traceability.
9. Contact
If you wish to obtain permission for reposting, translation, or brand use, or if you have questions about citation practices, please contact WBO through the channels officially published on the Website.
